While the original kitchen's layout was sufficient, it suffered from dark stain on oak doors which made the kitchen heavy and uninviting. Soffits limited the upper cabinet space and added to the heavy appearance of the kitchen. The client, whom had done a number of upgrades to the exterior of the home, wanted a lighter and more functional kitchen. Their choice of natural Birch cabinetry, stone backsplash and granite countertops, combined with the auburn cork floor made this kitchen warm, light and inviting.
